  • **SCHOOL CALENDAR CHANGE** Everett school district WILL have school next Monday, 1/30. There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, 2/6. The Rachel's Challenge parent event will be 2/6 at 6:30pm as previously scheduled. The student assembly will be moved to 2/7 at 2pm.
  • IT'S YEARBOOK TIME... Our Yearbook will be hard cover, full color, and full of fun memories! Reserve your child's copy by Wednesday, 2/1 (NEW DEADLINE!) Don't forget the extra "Happy Ad"! We're also looking for pictures of Forest View students at school or school events to include. Send a CD of your pictures to school marked "Yearbook." Questions? Contact Erin Thomsen or Lisa Mills.
  • SCHOOL DANCE!  Let's Book it!  Please save Friday 2/3 (NEW DATE!) for the School Dance (6:30-8:30pm):  Add to the fun by dressing up as your favorite book or story character.  Tickets are available for $7 per family pre-sale until 1/27 or for $9 per family at the door.  Q's?  Aline Chiasson.

      Forest View Staff and PTA are working together to bring Rachel's Challenge, the largest anti-violence, anti-bullying K-12 program in America to our school. This ground-breaking program will be presented through two events you won't want to miss:

      Monday, 2/6/12, 6:30-7:30pm: Community Event in the Forest View Cafeteria for parents, neighbors, and community members to view a presentation with more adult content to help bring this positive chain reaction into every one of our daily lives. This presentation is a must-see! (Please no children under 13).
      Tuesday, 2/7/12, 2:00pm:  Student Assembly in the Forest View Cafeteria.  Parents are welcome to hear how this age-appropriate program is presented to their children.

      • MAD SCIENCE PROGRAM!  Classes will start Feb 1st and will continue through to March 14th.  Registration will start on Jan 18th and space is limited, so be on the lookout for the flyer that will be sent home this week.  If you don't receive your flyer by the 18th, you can register online at www.madscienceregistration.com.
      • SCIENCE DAY PRESENTERS NEEDED:  Are you interested in helping in providing science-based lessons to our students?  If you are passionate about a subject and would like to turn it into a lesson, we would love to know by Friday, 2/3!  Contact michellenims@juno.com.

      • LEGISLATIVE UPDATE... The January 2012 edition of Forest View PTA's Legislative Update contains information on some ground-breaking developments for our children.  Please take a few minutes to read it!
      • MEN'S ESSAY CONTEST:  Washington State PTA invites all children to enter an ESSAY CONTEST!  Men make a difference in the lives of the children they care about.  Washington State PTA is promoting a statewide essay contest that explores this vital relationship - from our children’s perspective.  All entries for the "Men's Essay Contest" need to be submitted to the WSPTA office; 2003 65th Ave. W. Tacoma, WA. 98446. Deadline for entries to the office is March 1, 2012. Click here for more information.
      • ATTENTION ARTISTS! Aquasox is having a bookmark contest! If you are between the ages of 5 and 12, you can design a "Hit a Homerun in Reading" bookmark! The winners of the contest will have their bookmarks sent out to all the schools, and they will have special recognition at Forest View's AquaSox Reading Program Night! Entries need to be mailed to the Everett AquaSox by February 3rd. Entry forms and more information can be found in the library. Contact Emily Ellison with questions.
      • TALENT SHOW COMING...  Our first ever Talent Show is going to be February 24th.  Any Forest View student is welcome to participate.  Auditions will be 2/15 & 16 right after school, fill out this form to enter.  Acts can't be longer than 3 minutes.  Dress rehearsal is 2/23 right after school.       • KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION  Begins March 12th.  Registration forms available online on EPS website starting March 5th and forms available at schools on March 7th.

      • GREAT LIBRARY RESOURCES.  A big THANK YOU to Mickey Gallagher, Sno-Isle librarian, who teamed up with Mrs. Nesting, for a super-informative talk about resources for parents for homework help and research, and the FV School Library website has a treasure trove of resources...
      • LET'S GO GREEN! Learn how to actively participate in green projects throughout the year such as recycling paper and cardboard, cans, glass, etc. Together we can continue learning, act smart and help the environment!
